Considering the working activity of Technical Diver Operators and Hyperbaric Technicians, as well as the riskiness involved with such activity, the sector's hyperbaric m.d.'s and major experts find it necessary for the aspirant student to undertake a basic selective - medical test. A sanitary card of aptitude and psycho-physical evaluation has been therefore prepared, in order to ascertain the fitness for each the training course and the professional one. This is happening since 1979, when the Ministry of Health choose the Sanitary card used by the School in 1959 amongst many others examined as the official one enclosed to the Ministry Decree of the Merchant Navy 13.01.1979. The Sanitary Card, published on Official Gazette n.47 16.02.1979 of the Italian Republic, is at present the only one on national soil suited to examine the fitness and execution of underwater activity and is to be renewed at least once a year. At the Hyperbaric First Aid Center, at the School's site, the sanitary tests are executed even at the interested person's request, by special direction of the Ministry of the Merchant Navy - General Direction of the Marine and State Property Office - Division XX, Sect. I, Prot. n° 5201853 - 5.3.1979.
